Kathryn + George

Intimate + Reverent Backyard Wedding

As we sit here, thumbing through the memories captured on this day, we are overwhelmed by the depth of emotions that were present on Kathryn + George's wedding day. It was a day filled with love, faith, and a wholehearted commitment to each other and to God. The journey of capturing love stories through our lens has been a deeply personal one for us. Each wedding we have had the privilege to document has allowed us to witness the beautiful connections that form between two souls, and the way they navigate the world together.

Kathryn + George's wedding day was no exception. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that their love extended far beyond themselves. Their high reverence for God, their faith, and their marriage was palpable in every interaction, every prayer, and every exchange of vows. The intimacy of their backyard reception was a beautiful culmination of a day that was beyond perfect. The warm sunlight filtering through the trees, the laughter of loved ones, and the delicate details that adorned every corner created an atmosphere of nostalgia and comfort.

But what truly stood out to us was Kathryn + George's unwavering presence in every moment. They were not merely going through the motions of their wedding day, but rather taking the time to fully experience each and every joyous moment. It was as if they were actively soaking in every second, imprinting it onto their hearts forever.

Michigan, with it's breathtaking landscapes and charming backdrop, provided the perfect setting for this celebration of love. And as we captured their genuine smiles and the gut-felt laughter that echoed through the air, we couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for being able to witness such pure, unadulterated happiness. Kathryn + George's wedding day was a testament to their faith, to their commitment to each other, and to the importance they place on family. It was an event where friends were embraced as members of the family, where good food was shared and enjoyed, and where love and laughter were abundant.

As we reflect on our own personal journey and growth as photographers, we find ourselves humbled by the privilege of being able to document such moments. It is an honor to capture raw, genuine emotions that will be cherished for generations to come. And it is through these experiences that we have come to understand the power of storytelling and the significance of personal details.

To Kathryn + George, we say thank you. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your love story, for reminding us of the beauty that lies in faith and family, and for inspiring us to continue capturing these invaluable moments with all the love and passion in our hearts. As we remember their day and look to the weddings to come, we can only hope to witness and capture more love stories that are as heartfelt and genuine as this one.

Leah + Graham - A Backyard DIY Wedding

Michigan

This one was special. Leah + Graham invited us up to Saginaw, Michigan to be a part of their wedding weekend, which took place in Leah's mom's backyard (aka garden). They planted wildflowers which were used for the bouquets, they planted vegetables which were used for dinner, and they planted goodwill and joy in the hearts of everyone who attended.

We just love the all-hands-on-deck approach to weddings. Getting your family involved produces a genuine response of love, commitment, and care from the people closest to you, and this was so evident all weekend. Leah's sister picked veggies, while Graham's mom mixed sangria. Graham assembled the sweetheart tent while his best friends set up the ceremony audio. Leah's mom delicately arranged the decorations lining the aisle and the cocktail party. Her uncle smoked a pig. It was beautiful to witness.

Add to all of that a threat of rain, and you'd think panic and frustration might take over, but the way their families handled everything was graceful and patient. The rain also gave us an excuse to come back the following day for portraits in the sun.

Proof that simplicity wins and family is first.
