Crystal and Nate may have had arguably one of the most beautiful weddings we shot in 2009. They were married on December 20, so naturally Christmas was the theme of the day. And I love Christmas. A lot.
Crystal is one of those brides every photographer dreams of. Beautiful, easy going, and fun. Concerned about details, but not bossy or overbearing. Mindy spent the morning with her at the salon while she got ready, and I went with the guys to the National Air Force Museum.
As we went outside to take pictures, Nate found this hop-scotch court and just had to give it a whirl. Each of the groomsmen went through, showing each other up on every turn. Definitely a good way to stay warm, since it was like 30º outside!
After the ceremony we took the bridal party over the The Greene for some night photos with the Christmas lights. I was really proud of everyone they were so understanding and didn’t complain about the freezing temps or the snow. Crystal loves this little strip at The Green, but I don’t think the Limo driver was too happy driving around all those narrow streets.
Now I’ve been to my share of weddings, and I’ve seen a lot of really cool cakes. Heck, I’ve even seen quite a few on TV. But Crystal’s cakes were some of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. Each individual cake was made to look like a Christmas present, each of them had a real ribbon tied around them, and they each had a small card attached that read, “To: Crystal and Nathan.” Seriously, check these things out!
While everyone was having fun dancing at the reception, Santa Claus showed up! He danced with Crystal and had the kids sit on his lap. They were in awe that Santa would show up to a wedding, it was awesome!
