Anne Marie + Connor // Columbus Ohio Backyard Wedding
These two. So laid back, so fun, and so friendly. There's just something really special about a casual outdoor wedding, and even better when it's held at the property of the bride's grandparents. The style and sophistication here is impeccable, and yet Anne Marie and Connor both had such a relaxed approach to their wedding, which we really loved. I mean, come on, food trucks are the best catering idea EVER. There were a few hiccups that they took in stride (like Connor not having his tie for the first look, which ended up happening at the edge of the driveway), never taking things too seriously or getting stressed. At the end of the day, it was just such a genuine celebration of who they are and the relationship that they share.
Abby + Matt // Snode's Country Barn Wedding // Canton, Ohio
It probably goes without saying, but we love couples who love us. Couples who choose us over anyone else, because they love our work. Abby + Matt are the quintessential example. Abby is a photographer in Montana, and her family lives here in Ohio. They planned their wedding long distance, booked their venue sight unseen, and Abby knew from day one that she wanted us to be there. Apparently after she emailed us, she paced around the house waiting to hear back. After our Skype meeting, it was clear that we were the perfect fit.
Their wedding was incredible. The weather, the people, the style. Everything came together perfectly, from the unique details Abby hand designed, to the A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. breakfast buffet for dinner (in case you're wondering, yes, we think you should have french toast at your wedding too). We couldn't have asked for a better day, and we are so thankful to have been a part of their celebration.
Sophie + Spencer :: Columbus Ohio Wedding Photography
Remember Sophie and Spencer’s engagement session last fall on the OSU campus? It’s been a long time coming, but their wedding was at the beautiful Liberty Presbyterian Barn Church in Powell Ohio, just outside of Columbus.
Sophie had the day all planned out, and the schedule was pretty tight. They hadn’t planned on seeing each other before the ceremony, and when I saw the schedule, I had to ask. My question was simple, “Why?” This is a direct quote from Sophie’s email after I explained the advantages to her.
“Wow! We hadn’t really thought of the “First Look” from that point of view. I guess it had been more of a superstition, or a thought that no one else does, that was holding us against it. But a little bit of “us” time ahead of time sounds really nice and we definitely want to go for it! It sounds like a lot of stress will be lifted and we will not be rushed— perfect!”
After that I spent some time outlining what I thought the schedule might look like with the First Look instead of waiting. Sophie’s response was just as exciting.
“The schedule looks PERFECT!! I absolutely cannot believe how much more time that we have, and that we are able to get photos in downtown Delaware too! We love that idea and are so happy that you gave us this entire new perspective on the wedding day photo timeline— we already can’t imagine it any other way!”
They day went perfectly, we had the absolutely most beautiful fall day (not too hot, not too cold), and the First Look allowed us to spend some time after the ceremony doing some bridal party photos in historic downtown Delaware Ohio.
Here’s Sophie, some bridesmaids, and some family and friends checking out the same day slideshow. Definite hit.

Julie + Haddon :: Chicago Wedding Photography
Okay… maybe Chicago is a bit of a stretch. We had the privilage of photographing Julie and Haddon’s wedding at the County Line Orchard in Valparaiso, Indiana. It’s about an hour outside of the city. Close enough for me!
Julie is a friend of ours from Cedarville, Haddon went there too, but we’d actually not met him while we were there. Knowing Julie, we had some pretty high expectations. When Julie got to college, she predicted, “I’m not going to find a husband while I’m here.” Apparently Haddon had other plans. And I can say with certainty, Haddon exceeded our expectations.
They’re one of the couples that people just gravitate to. Mindy and I were driving back to our hotel room and both realized that we were sad the wedding was over, just because we didn’t feel like we were finished hanging out. The bridal party was excellent, the family was easy going. Overall, just one of the best weddings we’ve been a part of.
In his toast, Matt (the best man) described the couple best, “You can tell a lot about the character of a person by the company they keep.” Truer words were never spoken.
