Laura + Ed
Elegant Outdoor Wedding
There’s something special about getting ready in your childhood home. Laura grew up in a stunning historic home in the Indian Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati. The rooms in their home are filled with family mementoes and memories of Laura’s childhood. The sounds of giggles and little feet of nieces and nephews running around echoed through the halls, and cheers from her college alma mater’s football game in the background. Laura was brimming with the joy and peace of being in a place that was so special to her.
The celebration took place at the Camargo Club, another special place to the family. The night ended with The Sly Band putting on one of the best performances we’ve ever seen. It was the most beautiful fall day, it could not have gone more perfectly. Laughter, family, close friends, a personal ceremony, a candlelight reception and one heck of a dance party. The day they hoped for and will cherish forever.
The team that made this day all Laura + Ed hoped for:
Venue: Camargo Club
Florals: Rosemary Ballard, English Rose Floral Design
Hair & Make Up: BrideFace
Dress Shop: Lace Bridal Couture
Tux Shop: Blank Label
Leah + Graham - A Backyard DIY Wedding
Michigan
This one was special. Leah + Graham invited us up to Saginaw, Michigan to be a part of their wedding weekend, which took place in Leah's mom's backyard (aka garden). They planted wildflowers which were used for the bouquets, they planted vegetables which were used for dinner, and they planted goodwill and joy in the hearts of everyone who attended.
We just love the all-hands-on-deck approach to weddings. Getting your family involved produces a genuine response of love, commitment, and care from the people closest to you, and this was so evident all weekend. Leah's sister picked veggies, while Graham's mom mixed sangria. Graham assembled the sweetheart tent while his best friends set up the ceremony audio. Leah's mom delicately arranged the decorations lining the aisle and the cocktail party. Her uncle smoked a pig. It was beautiful to witness.
Add to all of that a threat of rain, and you'd think panic and frustration might take over, but the way their families handled everything was graceful and patient. The rain also gave us an excuse to come back the following day for portraits in the sun.
Proof that simplicity wins and family is first.
Anne Marie + Connor // Columbus Ohio Backyard Wedding
These two. So laid back, so fun, and so friendly. There's just something really special about a casual outdoor wedding, and even better when it's held at the property of the bride's grandparents. The style and sophistication here is impeccable, and yet Anne Marie and Connor both had such a relaxed approach to their wedding, which we really loved. I mean, come on, food trucks are the best catering idea EVER. There were a few hiccups that they took in stride (like Connor not having his tie for the first look, which ended up happening at the edge of the driveway), never taking things too seriously or getting stressed. At the end of the day, it was just such a genuine celebration of who they are and the relationship that they share.
Louisa + Patrick // Krippendorf Lodge Wedding // Cincinnati, Ohio
As it turns out, Cincinnati is beautiful. The Krippendorf Lodge is one of our favorite venues, and there's something to be said about a couple who's willing to take some risks. Louisa hopped into a sketchy boat for the sake of photos, and it worked out... swimmingly? Make sure you check out Louisa + Patrick's epic Alaskan engagement session while you're at it.
Tiffanee + JT // Heritage Center Wedding // Cincinnati, Ohio
What can I say about these two? JT is that guy you want your daughter to marry. A man of faith, a military serviceman, humble yet confident, and he treats Tiffanee like a man should treat a woman. You can tell he knows how lucky he is when he's around her. Tiffanee is sweet, kind, and obviously very beautiful. She loves JT and knows how lucky she is to have a guy like him. They had the very first wedding at the Heritage Center just outside of Cincinnati, and everything was perfect. Even the bourbon bottles full of drinking water at each table and the fried chicken and waffles for dinner (which I ate too quickly to get a photo of). These two are what it's all about.
