It's beginning to look at lot like Christmas
Mindy and I have been hunting and chopping down a live Christmas tree now for three years. The first year we went up to Fulton Farms in Tipp City, Ohio, and we’ve been each year since. Three years ago it was snowing, and in the midst of all the trees Mindy said, “I feel like I’m in Narnia.” We went with some old friends, and needless to say, it was a blast. Here’s a shot from that first year:
The second year wasn’t nearly as fun, because it was raining. We got super muddy, but we found a great tree. This year God blessed us with some snowfall again, and although it was a little muddy, we hunted around and were able to find our perfect tree once again. Fulton Farms provides a horse drawn trailer to load up your tree once you’ve cut it down, which was a big help this year (with that baby in Mindy’s belly and all). If you’re in the mood to dress up for the cold weather and cut down your own tree, we definitely recommend the little drive up to Tipp City!
(Yes, I wear the same hat every year… and don’t wear it any other day…)
We’re a little bit picky about our tree decorating. No crazy ornaments, crazy colored lights, or tacky tinsel. We always go with the all white lights, and our ornaments all follow a white/pearl/red theme. The best part is that it looks pretty awesome with our blue walls! If you ask me, it looks great, but trust me, Mindy will be moving the ornaments, one by one, for pretty much the next three weeks. She’ll get it “perfect” just in time to take it down.
We’re pretty excited that three stockings will be four next year!
We have the best clients in the world.
You can be jealous, or you can argue that we’re wrong, but I don’t care what you say, we have the best clients in the world. We had such a blast this past year shooting weddings all over the country. We met some fantastic people, and we made a lot of friends along the way.
Want proof? Our friends-turned-clients-turned-friends Joyce and Tom were gracious enough to send us some gifts for our little baby boy (who’s coming in January if you hadn’t heard!) in the mail. They even shopped from our registry!
Check out that sweet diaper bag! We seriously can’t thank them enough… what a treat!
Sheila + Andy :: Dayton Wedding Photography
A few weeks ago we posted Sheila and Andy’s engagement photos, which were really family photos. Simply put, they love their kids. And their kids love them. What an incredible family!
Their wedding was downtown Dayton, with the ceremony and reception both at the Top of the Market on 2nd Street. We had such a good time with them, and they were all such troopers. The poor girls in the short skirts, and we did photos outside. In November. They were frrrreeeeeeeeezzzing! Everyone had such a great attitude about it, and you could tell that everyone was so happy for Andy and Sheila.
The girls got ready at the Doubletree downtown…
The famous (and obvious) Brady Bunch shot!
Allie had some serious tears working during the ceremony.
SISTERS!
Ceremony & Reception: Top of the Market
Flowers: The Flowerman
Mindy’s still sneaking shots of me working… I need to get some of her up here! Look at me, I made those girls stand outside in the cold and I was wearing a sweater!
Wedding Tip: Pick long dresses if you’re getting married in November :)
Molly + Nick :: Dayton Engagement Photography
I’m struggling to even know where to start with this post. To say the least, Molly is a unique bride. We’ve never had a more thorough, hard-hitting client. She knows what she wants, and is prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure she’s going to be happy with the results. But she’s also one of the friendliest brides we’ve ever met. She’s honest and straight forward, asks questions and can’t wait for her wedding.
Nick… well the first thing that comes to mind, you can tell that he absolutely loves Molly and knows how lucky he is. Again, just such a nice guy, we got along so well! How many clients can I list that I’ve ridden in the car with and simultaneously rapped along with Dr. Dre? Just one.
I’m not sure we’ve ever connected with a couple as much as we did with Molly and Nick. We had a blast shooting and hanging out, and learned so much about them! Nick’s in med school, he used to play wide receiver at Ashland, he ran track, and he drives an Acura RSX. Molly does video production at a church, she loves experimenting with food combinations, and drinks hot water… plain. Don’t judge.
It also doesn’t hurt that they’re both really really ridiculously good looking. (movie?)
They’re totally in love, and I think it really shows. These are some of our favorite photos we’ve ever taken.
Nick totally working his model face (Molly’s aint half bad either!):
Officially the most fun couple ever!!!
The one on the right here… this was the shot Nick had been preparing for, apparently for weeks. Spinning around in the mirror… exercising his “grey graphite” (which by the way is a notch above the amateur “blue steel”) and doing his male model research. Pretty sure he nailed it.
Allie + Jacob :: Columbus Engagement Photography
Allie + Jacob could be considered “the couple that everyone hates.” They were one of the first weddings we booked for 2011, and their date is September 3. Also known as the date that everyone and their sister wants to get married on. We’ve had numerous inquiries for their weekend, and with every couple we have to turn away we realize more and more how lucky they are that they booked early.
The funny thing is, I’m pretty sure these guys have never met anyone that could actually hate them. They are so fun and friendly! We spent an evening at the Inniswood Metro Garden in Columbus, and really hit it off. After a few awkward minutes of “what do we do… how do we stand…” we got rolling and the rest was easy. A perfect example of why we include an engagement session with every wedding! It’s so nice to get that over with before the big day!
We’re so excited to shoot their wedding next fall!
