Jen + Shawn - Boston Public Library Wedding
Boston, Massachusetts
Sharing this wedding is long over due. We originally met Jen + Shawn over a year before their wedding, at Lauren + Cesar's wedding in Mexico, where Jen was Lauren's Maid of Honor. We spent the day after that wedding hanging in the pool and sipping drinks with these guys, and we knew the friendships we formed on that trip would outlast the flight home. When Jen contacted us about heading to Boston, joining up with the the same crew, and photographing her wedding, we immediately said, "Are you kidding? We'll be there.".
We started our trip exploring the beautiful city of Boston, eating from food trucks and experiencing Uber for the first time (at the time, Uber hadn't rolled out in Ohio). Thanks to Jen + Shawn's recommendation we ate at Row 34. The lobster roll and crab cake are to die for, we almost ordered seconds. Looking back, we probably should have.
Before the rehearsal dinner, we met up with Jen + Shawn and did a short but sweet engagement session out on Pleasure Bay and Castle Island. Even when we travel for weddings we love to find a time to connect with the couple before the wedding. Even a quick session before the wedding can help take awkwardness out of the equation and allow us connect on a deeper level. There's no doubt this translates on the day of the wedding.
We knew the wedding was going to be one of our favorites. The Boston Public Library was such an amazing venue. Full of stunning light, beautiful architecture, and like the rest of Boston, American history. We headed out to the iconic Acorn Street in Beacon Hill for portraits and then found some amazing light around the library. The courtyard was the perfect setting for the ceremony. As large as the library was, the ceremony still felt small and intimate. Dinner was held inside, and the room was elegant and romantic. After dinner we moved to a different room for dancing, and it very quickly transformed into one the best dance parties we've been a part of. Most of the bridal party was with us in Mexico so we were well aware that they knew how to party, but they outdid themselves.
Happy one year anniversary Jen + Shawn! Thank you again for inviting us to Boston and sharing your wedding day with us!
Emily + Eddie - Renaissance Hotel Wedding Cincinnati Ohio
We have so much love for these two. We first met Emily + Eddie when we did their engagement session. We knew right away that their wedding day was going to be one we looked forward to. Emily's heart is kind and sweet. Her style is one of simple elegance. Her dress, a soft blush tulle, was so beautiful. Eddie, a Captain in the US Army, embodies everything that uniform represents. They are wonderful people with big hearts.
We were immediately welcomed into Emily's home and treated like friends. During the reception, we usually try to grab our food while the bridal party is eating, so when the next event happens we're ready and don't miss anything. Not only did serve us at the same time, they sat us at the head table! We cherish these two and left this wedding feeling like we've gained two new friends. Cheers guys!
Julia + Michael - Music Hall Wedding Cincinnati Ohio
It's hard to know what to write.
This couple and this family mean so much to us, and to be a part of just a joyous day was nothing short of an honor. As you'll see, the smiles didn't stop the entire day. Julia + Michael are perfect for each other, and the uniting of their families was no doubt orchestrated by God.
This past weekend, just a mere seven weeks after saying 'I do,' Julia was diagnosed with Leukemia. In these days after receiving news that could derail anyone, Julia, Michael, and their families are filled with a faith and a trust in God that is public and undeniable. We know that He is at work, and that His name will be made great through this story.
As we wrap up editing their photos, the impact of what we do feels clearer than ever. Would you please pray for Julia as she fights this terrible disease? She is strong, and she has what is likely the best support system that anyone has ever had in her husband, parents, and sisters, but she needs people in her corner pleading with God for healing. Pray that the doctors would have wisdom, and ultimately, that many people would come to know Jesus because of the testimony of this young woman and her family.
Lori + Jon - Downtown Wedding
Springfield, Ohio
It's really quite rare for us to walk into a wedding blind, having never met the bride and groom. We almost always know what to expect, having either sat down at our studio for an initial consult, or shot an engagement session, and we consider our relationships with our clients to be such an important part of what we do. It's weird when you don't know what to expect, even if you have all of your ducks in a row regarding the schedule and the locations and all of the other details that are so critical on wedding days.
Heading into Lori + Jon's wedding, we only knew a few things about them. Jon hails from the great state of California. Lori's from Xenia. The wedding was in Springfield. This encompasses an absolutely huge number of variables, so we really didn't know what to expect. Apparently these things combine to create the most loving, kind, hilarious, good looking people. We immediately hit it off, not only with them, but with their friends and family too. Add in a perfect sunset and you have the makings of a good one...
Becca + Andy - Adventure Engagement Dayton Ohio
These two are getting married this weekend, and we could not be happier for them!
A few weeks ago we spent a little time exploring a waterfall in the rural areas north of Dayton. It's hard to explain, but there's something magical that happens when we have a couple who trusts us 100% and is willing to get their feet dirty. None of us really knew what to expect (we'd never been to this area before), and the resulting images are some of our favorites. Not only because of the gorgeous landscape, but because Becca + Andy were outside of their comfort zone, experiencing something new together, and somehow it brought them closer to each one another. They had to rely on each other to navigate the rocky path, holding hands for balance. It was exciting and romantic and exactly the kind of thing more of us should do on a regular basis.
