Kelsie + Kevin :: Columbus Engagement Photography
Part two of our double header…
After our trip to the county fair, we met up with Kelsie and Kevin just outside the city of Delaware (which is just north of Columbus). Kelsie lined up access to an old train. These first two are from that train, but as you can see we got out of there real quick. It must have been 90º and musty in there!
We explored the area around the train, and found some pretty killer stuff, and the sun…. mmmmmm… the sun was just perfect! This is exactly why we recommend scheduling your session just before sunset.
We were hanging out near this fenced off power unit, and Kelsie goes, “Man, this fence reminds me of Prison Break.” BAM, that was all it took and I had this idea. Really happy with how closely this matched what I saw in my head!
Do yourself a favor and just look at Kelsies EYES! Wow, we cannot get over how intense and colorful they are! (They are NOT photoshopped or altered in any way)
Steph + Dylan :: Columbus Engagement Photography
Steph and Dylan are getting married next April. They told me that the focus of their relationship and of their wedding is “fun.” They love to have fun, and they want everyone around them to have fun too. We met up at the Delaware County fair in Columbus this past weekend for some fun engagement photos.
Stay tuned for their wedding next spring!
Brittany + Ben :: Kentucky Wedding Photography
If we had a “Wedding of the Year” award, Brittany and Ben’s beautiful Kentucky wedding would be one of the front runners, for sure. They chose to get married at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Paducah, Kentucky, despite the fact that Brittany’s dad is a pastor at a church less than 20 miles away. It’s not hard to see why! Immanuel is one of the biggest, most beautiful southern churches I’ve had the pleasure of seeing. Luckily, her dad’s church made a great reception location!
Brittany has been a friend of Mindy and myself since back when we all attended Cedarville. She’s just one of those special girls that makes friends with everyone she meets. She’s so grounded in her faith, but knows how to have a good time. She’s a woman that I really respect, and so we had some reservations about Ben. We met him at the rehearsal on Friday night, and it took about 30 seconds to dispel those feelings. His dad said (during his toast) that Ben has never met a stranger. He’s a magnetic person, and people are just drawn to him. We could tell that Brittany and Ben were perfect for each other when we realized that they each had ten (10!) bridesmaids and groomsmen, and then Ben had another four ushers.
The best part about their wedding was their focus on getting great photography. Brittany and I worked together to build a wedding day schedule that allowed for flexibility and quite simply a lot of time. Mindy and I love to work closely with our couples to create a schedule that really allows us the time to capture work that we’re proud of and that will hopefully blow you away. We started with their First Look and then quickly wrapped up formal family portraits. Then we all headed out to downtown Paducah for over 2 hours of bridal and party portraits. We honestly couldn’t have asked for anything better.
Let’s get to it. Check out that sanctuary and the huge bridal party!

Speaking of videographers… I thought you’d all like to see the highlights video they put together for Brittany and Ben. LifeStage Films was wonderful to work with, and we’d highly recommend them if you’re looking for a little more than a typical wedding video. Not much I can say other than check out the work!
Fall Specials :: Who doesn't love discounts and freebies!?
Fall is here, and our wildly popular seasonal specials are back and better than ever! We’re running two specials this year. First, when you book a family or portrait session you’ll get a whole raft of free products included. On top of that all of our albums are 25% off, and we’re offering that same discount on our new Holiday Cards!
You can use both deals at the same time as well, so you can get Holiday Cards made with the photos taken at the family session. Brides, this is a great time to order a second album for your house or for your family!
Contact us to schedule a session or if you’re interested in ordering a custom album or cards!
Amanda + Brett :: Dover Wedding Photography
Amanda and Brett’s wedding was a big experiment for us. We had planned on trying our very first Same Day Slideshow. For those of you wondering what that really means, basically we set up our laptop and an LCD display at the reception that ran a slideshow of the images from earlier in the day. It was a huge hit with everyone at the reception, some of the guest and family members stood in front of it for a good three or four cycles of the slideshow! The cool part is that it could potentially turn into a great marketing tool for us. It’s really a win-win.
They key is that we don’t have a lot of time to sit and edit these photos. We’ve been working hard lately to improve the quality and accuracy of our photos straight out of the camera. It’s a combination of better lenses, better knowledge, and more experience. It’s also mission critical to understand the lighting situation. Light is by far the number one most important aspect of great photography, but it’s also the hardest to understand and control consistently. I think a unique use of light is what separates a good photographer from a great one, and I feel like we’re getting there.
The whole thing was made even better because… well… look at them. Amanda is the sweetest girl ever, and it’s honestly impossible to take a bad photo of her. Brett was confident and proud. We were cracking up all day though, cause that guy can blink! Good thing we shoot doubles of every photo, cause Brett was probably blinking in every other photo. I had to remind Amanda throughout the day that he also had his eyes open in every other photo. Too funny!
Same Day Slideshows are something we’re going to try and implement into as many future weddings as possible. If this is something you think you’d be interested in, make sure you head over to the contact page and set up a meeting!
Many of the images you see are either unedited or have been touched up just slightly.
This next photo is one of my favorites. You can see Amanda and Brett, as well as Amanda’s parents, family members, and friends all checking out the slideshow at the reception. Amanda’s mom even said, “The same-day-slideshow of was FABULOUS, Cameron and Mindy!! I could have stood there and watched it for hours :) You guys rock!! ♥” Whether it’s a Same Day Slideshow, or just delivering a simple photo of a bride dancing with her dad, that response is why we do what we do!
Rachel + Mark :: Columbus Wedding Photography
Sometimes things just work out perfectly. Rain was in the forecast for Rachel and Mark’s wedding, and that can always throw everyone into a little bit of a panic. And it did rain. But miraculously only when we weren’t doing photos. The overcast skies gave us some great light, and we managed to get all of the photos we needed without getting too wet. God rarely works on our schedule, but He was gracious enough to give us some windows throughout the day.
It helps that Rachel and Mark are two of the nicest people I’ve ever met, and they’re comfortable in front of a camera (thanks in part to shooting their engagement session last fall). Their bridal party was hilarious, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better day (well, besides some sun).
Make sure you check out Rachel’s little surprise for Mark… those shiny white cowboy boots!
P.S. How do you like the new larger blog photos?
